Iftar & Ramadan in Targa: breaking the fast at Crusthy'lia

6 min readBy the Crusthy'lia team

As maghrib draws near, the Targa district slows down, the tables are set, and the wait takes on a particular sweetness. At Crusthy'lia, a café, restaurant and artisan bakery, we prepare iftar the way we love to host: house-made produce, a calm table, and the time to share. Here is how we think about ftour, and how to book yours.

Iftar in Targa, a moment that's prepared

Ftour is not a meal like any other. It's the break in the day, the first glass of water, the first date — and, for many families in Targa and Marrakech, the wish to do things well without spending the whole day in the kitchen. That's exactly where we love to be useful: letting you live Ramadan serenely while we prepare the table.

Targa is a residential district, quiet, away from the bustle of the centre. During Ramadan, that calm becomes a real luxury: you break the fast without a scramble, in a family atmosphere, a few minutes from home. Our house is open every day until midnight, which leaves all the time you need, after maghrib, to linger over a tea.

« The real luxury of ftour is no longer having to rush. We let you savour it; we take care of the rest. »

What makes a beautiful ftour table

A good iftar follows a simple, reassuring order. You break the fast with dates and a glass of water or milk, then comes the harira or the soup of the day, piping hot, which gently wakes the body. Next arrive the warm flatbreads — msemen, harcha, batbout — and the baghrir (bghrir), those thousand-hole pancakes that drink up honey and amlou.

Made in house, every day

Everything that comes out of our kitchen during Ramadan is prepared on site, the same day. The msemen, the harcha, the batbout and the bghrir are never frozen: they're shaped by hand and served warm, like at home. It's the baker's side of our craft — the part we keep for last, because it's what makes the difference on a ftour table.

The sweet and the comfort

Alongside the savoury, ftour calls for a little sweetness: pure honey, amlou, house jam, and our pastries of the day to extend the meal over a glass of mint tea. Nothing excessive — just enough for the table to feel generous without being heavy.

Our sets for breaking the fast

Rather than a long menu, we offer sets conceived as a whole, capturing the spirit of ftour. Our Beldi set brings together the essentials of a Moroccan table — dates, soup of the day, msemen, harcha, batbout, bghrir, amlou, pure honey and olive oil — with a hot drink and an orange or carrot juice. For those who want a lighter break after a long day of fasting, the Détox set and its fresh-pressed juices offer a fresh, balanced alternative.

The juices are pressed to order; you choose yours within each set. Discover all our compositions on our menu.

Booking ahead is the essential thing

During Ramadan, tables go fast: everyone breaks the fast at the same instant. The best advice we can give you is to book ahead, ideally the day before, so you're sure of your place and of being served at maghrib, with no waiting.

How to book

Booking is done directly on WhatsApp, with a real person on the team: one message, one reply, one table. Tell us the day, the time of ftour and the number of guests — we'll prepare the rest. It all happens on our reservation page.

Iftar to take away or delivered

Would you rather break the fast at home? We also prepare your ftour to take away, and we deliver across Marrakech via our two stores. The details are on our delivery page — just remember to order early, the pre-maghrib slots fill up fast.

Halal, fresh, and no nasty surprises

All our products are halal: no pork on our menu, at any time of year. During Ramadan, that's a given we make a point of stating clearly, so you can come with peace of mind. Common allergens (gluten, milk, eggs, tree nuts, sesame, soya) are flagged on our sets — don't hesitate to ask us when you book.

Our address: N°890, Lotissement Nakhil 2, Targa, Marrakech. We're open every day from 8am to midnight. During Ramadan, it's an ideal window both for ftour and for a long evening over a tea.
